Library guide for Researchers/Postgraduates: Liaison or Subject Librarians

What does a subject Librarian do?

The Library has a team of subject specialists for each academic School.  The subject teams liaise with their Schools to provide library support for learning, teaching and research activities. Within these areas of support the subject teams are responsible for:

  • liaison with staff and students
  • management of information services and subject collections
  • information & enquiry services
  • training in the use of LIS resources
  • expert advice on literature searching

Each subject librarian maintains their own web pages giving details of databases and other reference sources in their subject area
