Competition Guidelines

Competition entrants should note the following:

  • Images must be generated as a result of research carried out during your time in TUS. Images must be original to the researcher or research group.
  • Images can be real photographs of research in action, research practices or more abstract imagery of collated data or other sources related to the research. Images do not need to provide specific information about a subject but they could be very salient visuals that make a broader point about research or data gathered.
  • Each individual can submit one image but can also be involved in a 'group' image.
  • Submitted images must be accompanied by a title and caption (max 200 words) that explains what your image shows and how it relates to your research. The abstract must be accessible to a non-specialist academic audience.
  • Images must be submitted as a JPEG or PNG file and be max 10MB.
  • You must have the permission of all involved with the research to submit the image to the competition.

The photographer will retain copyright. TUS Library retains the right to use all submitted images – including those not chosen to win prizes – in promotional materials for Research Week, library website, online galleries and Twitter account without further permission from, or compensation to, the photographer.
