Research@THEA Institutional Repository Libguide.
This guide is intended to enlighten both staff and students about institutional repositories (IR) in general and our own (Research@THEA) in particular; especially how to utilise it as an informational resource, navigate through it and deposit content into it.
What is an Institutional Repository?
Institutional Repositories are becoming increasingly common at research institutions, as they primarily seek to collect research and publications produced by scholars at the institution.
A university-based institutional repository is "a set of services that a university offers to the members of its community for the management and dissemination of digital materials created by the institution and its community members. It is most essentially an organizational commitment to the stewardship of these digital materials, including long-term preservation where appropriate, as well as organization and access or distribution” (Lynch, 2003).
Research@THEA is an open-access repository that was established in 2017. It was launched as a service for capturing, storing, preserving and showcasing the research output of all the Institutes of Technology in Ireland, whilst also providing a platform for their researchers/academic staff and students to publish and promote their work.
The Research@THEA repository is a free gateway to academic and qualitative research that can be accessed electronically at http://research.thea.ie/. Here, you can search the entire collections/research output of the partaking Institutes of Technology/Technological Universities in a single search or alternatively you can opt to search the research from a single Institute/Technological University using the individual site.
