Cyber Crime, Security and Digital Intelligence by Cyber crime is one of the main threats to the digital economy. From insider threats to complex distributed attacks and industrial worms, modern business faces unprecedented challenges. Cyber security and digital intelligence are the necessary responses to this challenge, yet they are understood by only a tiny minority of users and decision makers. In Cyber Crime, Security and Digital Intelligence, his second book on high technology risks, Mark Johnson goes far beyond enumerating past cases and summarising the requirements of data protection law, payment card industry or ISO standards. He focuses on how cyber crime has evolved and the nature of the very latest threats and confronts issues that have yet to be addressed by codified rules and practice guidelines. His book is supported by over 30 illustrations and many valuable tables, with non-technical explanations of how cyber attacks are executed, avoided and controlled.

The Court of Appeal by The Court of Appeal: A Guide is the first book to cover Ireland's new Court of Appeal, which began work in November 2014 following a referendum the previous year. The Court took many of the appeals from the Supreme Court, shortening the waiting list and leaving the court of final appeal to fulfil its proper function, to "explain the Constitution to the Irish people, whose document it is." Author Kieron Wood also explains the grounds for 'leapfrog' appeals from the High Court direct to the new court. The Court of Appeal (An ChÃ?Ã?ºirt Achomhairc) replaced the Court of Criminal Appeal and the Courts Martial Appeal Court. This book will be an invaluable reference tool for all solicitors, barristers, and judges. It will also be useful to anyone seeking further information about the Court of Appeal, including fees and the all-important forms for appeals to the new court and the Supreme Court. Also included are all the contact details readers might need, and references to the latest judgments. [Subject: Irish Law]

Design Thinking for Education by This book explores, through eight chapters, how design thinking vocabulary can be interpreted and employed in educational contexts. The theoretical foundations of design thinking and design in education are first examined by means of a literature review. This is then followed by chapters that characterize design thinking among children, pre-service teachers and in-service teachers using research data collected from the authors' design-driven coursework and projects. The book also examines issues associated with methods for fostering and assessing design thinking. In the final chapter, it discusses future directions for the incorporation of design thinking into educational settings. Intended for teachers, teacher educators and university instructors, this book aims to provide them with the theoretical foundations needed to grasp design thinking, and to provide examples of how design thinking can be interpreted and evaluated. The materials covered will help these groups of professionals to consider how design thinking can be integrated into their own teaching and learning contexts. The book will also promote a discourse between educational researchers on the theoretical development of design thinking in educational settings.

DSM-5® Guidebook by DSM-5® Guidebook: The Essential Companion to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition is a user-friendly, supplementary guide for psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health practitioners who need to know how DSM-5® differs from its predecessor in terms of organizational structure, diagnostic categories, and the criteria themselves. While it does not replace the comprehensive and authoritative DSM-5®, it illuminates its content by teaching mental health professionals how to use the revised diagnostic criteria and by providing a practical context for its clinical use. The book offers many valuable features, including: * An historical overview of the development of the DSM in general, and DSM-5® in particular, a progression that might be said to mirror the evolution of psychiatry as a whole. The material on the creation of DSM-5® includes coverage of dimensional assessment, reliability and field trials, and the controversies that arose during development of DSM-5®.* An indispensable chapter on how to use DSM-5® that addresses coding, diagnostic certainty, the demise of the multiaxial system, and the key changes to each diagnostic category.* Full coverage of the significant reorganization from DSM-IV-TR® to DSM-5®, which is designed to incorporate advances in neuroscience, brain imaging and genetics. Chapters were reordered to reflect scientific advances in the understanding of psychiatric disorders, and the presumed etiological and the pathophysiological relationships among them.* Extensive coverage of the decision to integrate dimensional measures into DSM-5®, which may enhance the clinician's ability to assess symptom variation and severity and aid in patient evaluation, treatment decisions, and outcome monitoring. The various measures are presented and their use discussed.* Finally, as the authors were not part of the revision process, they offer a fresh, down-to-earth perspective that will resonate with clinicians by focusing on the changes that will most significantly impact clinicians' professional lives. DSM-5® Guidebook provides a roadmap to the many changes in this living document, DSM-5®, and will prove invaluable to psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, neurologists, social workers, and all who strive to understand mental illness as it is conceived today.

Law and Public Administration in Ireland by Law and Public Administrative in Ireland provides a comprehensive account of an area of law which is conceptually difficult. In examining the key themes and concepts of Irish administrative law, along with the application to real cases, the book clarifies and enlivens this crucial area of law. It provides an up-to-date analysis of the core grounds of judicial review, incorporating landmark post-Celtic Tiger era decisions concerning procedural fairness. Underlining the ever evolving nature of administrative law, the book evaluates recent refinements to traditional concepts and distinctions, such as the borderline between an error of law and an error of fact, legitimate expectation, and the obligation to take relevant matters into account. The rising importance of the European legal instruments receives a direct examination, with the book charting the emerging use of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and the European Convention on Human Rights, and how international perspectives have impacted traditional concepts and approaches to the subject. Law and Public Administrative in Ireland displays the breadth and diversity of Irish administrative law, supplying an analysis of many legislative reforms and legal innovations which followed Ireland's economic downturn. The book explores both the law and the factors informing it, looking at the policy choices which have shaped the Irish administrative State. It reflects upon the efforts to strengthen parliamentary scrutiny over the administrative state as well as critically reviewing the role of non-judicial bodies, including the Office of the Ombudsman and Public Inquiries. The landmark reform of the institutional structures of local government in the Local Government Reform Act 2014, including changes to the planning and development, are analyzed for the first time. The book provides an account of this complex area of law which is both accessible and contextual, making it an invaluable text for both students and academics. The scope of the material covered is highly relevant to those studying administrative law.

Leisure and Death by This anthropological study examines the relationship between leisure and death, specifically how leisure practices are used to meditate upon--and mediate--life. Considering travelers who seek enjoyment but encounter death and dying, tourists who accidentally face their own mortality while vacationing, those who intentionally seek out pleasure activities that pertain to mortality and risk, and those who use everyday leisure practices like social media or dogwalking to cope with death, Leisure and Death delves into one of the most provocative subsets of contemporary cultural anthropology. These nuanced and well-developed ethnographic case studies deal with different and distinct examples of the intertwining of leisure and death. They challenge established conceptions of leisure and rethink the associations attached to the prospect of death. Chapters testify to encounters with death on a personal and scholarly level, exploring, for example, the Cliffs of Moher as not only one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ireland but one of the most well-known suicide destinations as well, and the estimated 30 million active posthumous Facebook profiles being repurposed through proxy users and transformed by continued engagement with the living. From the respectful to the fascinated, from the macabre to the morbid, contributors consider how people deliberately, or unexpectedly, negotiate the borderlands of the living. An engaging, timely book that explores how spaces of death can be transformed into spaces of leisure, Leisure and Death makes a significant contribution to the burgeoning interdisciplinary literature on leisure studies and dark tourism. This book will appeal to students, scholars, and laypeople interested in tourism studies, death studies, cultural studies, heritage studies, anthropology, sociology, and marketing. Adams, Michael Arnold, Jane Desmond, Keith Egan, Maribeth Erb, James Fernandez, Martin Gibbs, Rachel Horner-Brackett, Shingo Iitaka, Tamara Kohn, Patrick Laviolette, Ruth McManus, James Meese, Bjorn Nansen, Stravoula Pipyrou, Hannah Rumble, Cyril Schafer

Redmond on Dismissal Law by Redmond on Dismissal Law, 3rd edition (previous edition titled- Dismissal Law in Ireland) explains the workings of dismissal law (wrongful and unfair) and details the introduction of the new Workplace Relations Commission. The planned Irish Government's Workplace Relations Reform Programme delivers a two-tier Workplace Relations structure by merging the activities of the National Employment Rights Authority, the Labour Relations Commission, the Equality Tribunal and the first instance functions of the Labour Court and the Employment Appeals Tribunal into a new Body of First Instance, the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC). The WRC provides a single portal of entry for all employment and equality related information requests, and employment and equality rights complaints and referrals. Religion, Law and the Irish State by Religion features prominently in Irish history and politics. Its peculiar legal status represents one of the distinctive features of the Irish constitutional tradition. The 1937 Constitution accords religion a central position as an anchoring point of Ireland's national identity, yet also includes ostensibly strong guarantees of freedom of conscience and religion, and of equality on religious grounds, that are typical of liberal-democratic constitutional systems. It synthesizes competing theories and models, tentatively affirming religion's public status, yet committing it to the "private sphere" for most purposes. For the most part, the historically close relationship between the State and the Catholic Church found no clear mandate in the constitutional text, which, contrary to prevailing perceptions, imposes a limited form of Church-State separation - although the exact boundaries it imposes remain unclear. More specifically, the legal principles and doctrines relating to religious practice are ambiguous and underdeveloped, particularly in issues surrounding religious freedom and denominational autonomy. The extent to which the Constitution protects religious activity from State interference has never been decisively resolved; additionally, constitutional considerations underlie resurgent contemporary controversies in the field of Church and State - particularly in the recent public debate on the role of religion in schools. Accordingly, Religion, Law and the Irish State examines the constitutional framework governing State and religion in the broader context of the history, politics, and theory of the Church-State relationship. From a lawyer's perspective, the book provides an account of the case law and doctrine in specific areas, including religious freedom, religious equality, denominational autonomy, and Church-State separation, while also giving these subjects a comparative and theoretical treatment. For those approaching Church and State from different perspectives - including historians, political scientists, sociologists, and theologians - it offers an accessible and contextual account of the constitutional dimensions of the State-religion relationship. It explores the constitutional provisions as an expression of, but also a potential fetter upon, the evolving social and political role of religion.

Residential Tenancies by Ireland is in a housing and rental crisis. With spiralling rents and a lack of supply comes new challenges for tenants and landlords. Along with this, the legislative changes to the Residential Tenancies Act 2004 are being made in a piecemeal fashion. With so many changes, Residential Tenancies is a much needed exposition of the current law. It provides a clear and comprehensive statement of the law regulating private and social leases of dwellings in Ireland and explains the dispute resolution mechanisms of the Residential Tenancies Board, appeals, and enforcement. At the centre of the book are the implications of the Residential Tenancies Act 2004, which was enacted to provide a simple and quick way to resolve disputes. However the provisions of the Residential Tenancies Act are technical, confusing, and give rise to what has been referred to repeatedly in the High Court as regrettable difficulties of interpretation. Residential Tenancies provides expert guidance and insight for practitioners and all those who have to navigate the provisions of the Residential Tenancies Act, 2004 (as amended). The text aims to 'see around corners' in the legislation, to answer particular difficulties that might prompt readers to turn to its pages. It gives practical help including step-by-step guidance to tackle the difficulties of interpretation and the wide range of changes and challenges, such as the obligations of landlords and tenants, changes in notice periods for termination and rent reviews, and dispute resolution. Along with this, the book also includes many useful resources including a comprehensive appendix, which includes a sample residential letting agreement, a range of sample notices of termination (to deal with all permitted reasons for termination), and a sample rent review notice. These make it ideal for solicitors and barristers practicing in this area, as well as letting agents and members of the public, either landlords or tenants who wish to be well informed of their rights and obligations.

Theorising Professions by This book synthesises several decades of research to extend beyond the limitations of a traditional functionalist model, offering a twenty-first century theory of professions and professionalism for a new generation engaging in theorising and research. It asserts nine innovative arguments, drawing on major theorists such as Johnson, Freidson, Larson, Weber, Foucault and Bourdieu to achieve a global framing of professions. Concepts of bundling and unbundling are used to explain changes happening to professions as they cease to be exclusive containers that fully control particular forms of knowledge. Examining how professions are changing today reveals the ways in which expectations around expertise and goodness have altered for all stakeholders: consumers, regulators, corporations and professions themselves. Unbundled professions morph into new forms of professional work, under new conditions, technologies and social arrangements Professionals and policy-makers interested in shaping the future of professions must recognise the potential impacts from an increasingly globalised, digitalised and managerialised world, and this book will be a key addition for scholars and practitioners alike.
